The San Diego Union Tribune reports that Brooklyn Elementary School in San Diego, which is moving to a new facility about a half mile away, is "one of those rare urban schools that can boast a stable faculty and rising test scores, despite...a largely underprivileged student population... "Brooklyn teachers have forged such close ties with parents that they make home visits and on occasion have provided clothing and food to poor families. "But this tight-knit staff may be dispersed come July because of union rules that say that teachers with the most seniority get first dibs on jobs at new schools... "The teachers union denied that it failed to inform its members...saying its representatives have met several times with Brooklyn teachers regarding the move...The union has declined the Brooklyn teachers' request to waive the contract provision.." School board member Luis Acle said that the union should "put children's interests above adult interests."

CTA affiliate Chula Vista Educators PRESIDENT GINA BOYD CLAIMS SHE EITHER ACCIDENTALLY THREW AWAY OR LOST her notes of a critical meeting at which CVESD Asst. Superintendent Richard Werlin placed Maura Larkins on administrative leave. On Feb. 12, 2006, Werlin said two teachers were afraid Maura Larkins would kill them. SOON AFTER, WERLIN CHANGED HIS STORY.

Two months later, GINA BOYD ADMITTED THAT WERLIN CHANGED HIS STORY about two teachers calling him on Feb 10, 2001. Boyd told Maura Larkins that meeting notes proved this, since her notes stated, "THEY FEARED FOR THEIR LIVES."
WERLIN NOW CLAIMS THAT ONLY ONE TEACHER HAD CALLED HIM. BOYD WENT ALONG WITH THE NEW STORY. Boyd changed her own story to agree with Werlin, and CAME UP WITH THE STORY that she had either accidentally thrown away her notes of the meeting, or her lawyer had lost them.
