President Sandoval called the closed session meeting to order at 6:10 p.m.

Board members present were Robert Griego, Pearl Quiñones, and Arlie Ricasa.
(Christopher Suber, student board member, was excluded from the closed session
meeting.) Jim Cartmill joined the closed session meeting at 6:11 p.m.

Also attending closed session were Ed Brand,
superintendent, Bonny Garcia, legal counsel, Dan Shinoff,
Jack Sleeth, and Diane Crosier, general counsel, and Kathy
Dahlen, labor negotiator.

President Sandoval adjourned the closed session meeting at 6:50 p.m., and
reconvened the public session at 7:00 p.m...
President Sandoval reported that the board took the following action:

Moved by Cartmill, seconded by Sandoval, to accept the administrative hearing panel’s
recommendation to reinstate the following students (students identified by ID

solicitation on school campuses. Ruben Elizalde, Charles Sarosy, and Michael Taylor
addressed various issues at Eastlake High. Ramin Moshiri addressed the issue of
school performance.

Lori Moore addressed the issue of a long-range development plan. Charles Longo
addressed the issue of a closed session item. Gabrielle Longo addressed the issue
of district athletics... Kim Longo addressed the issue of public records.....

B. Instructional Support Services B-1. Approve consultant contract with Dr. Debra
Pickering to conduct staff development sessions for the Middle School Demonstration

... B-6. Approve consultant contract with California Student Opportunity Access
Program (CAL-SOAP) to provide services in recruiting, hiring and training to College
Peer Advisors (CPA) for Montgomery High School and the Academic Improvement and
Achievement Act (AIAA) Office for the period of September 1, 2002, through June 30,
2003. This item was withdrawn by staff. C. Student Support Services C-1. Approve
consultant contracts with: 1. Phillip Weller to provide services for Mar Vista Middle
School’s After School Activities Program for the period of September 2002 through
June 2003.

College and the Sweetwater Union High School District. Mr. Sandoval stated that he
would abstain from this item since he is employed at Southwestern College. Ms.
